Amazon Backend Keywords Tool
The backend search-terms field is 250 **bytes**, not characters. Accented letters cost two, so a list that looks like 240 characters can already be over — and Amazon ignores the overflow silently.
Paste your keywords separated by commas, lines or spaces. The tool drops duplicates, stop words, your own brand and anything already in the title — all wasted bytes.
Paste your keywords — the cleaned list appears here.
Your inputs stay in your browser — nothing is sent to a server.
How it's calculated
The tool first splits the list into words: commas, line breaks and punctuation are stripped and everything is lowercased. Commas take up space and do nothing — Amazon indexes space-separated terms.
Then four groups are dropped: duplicates, stop words, your own brand and anything already in your title. All four burn bytes for nothing — title words are indexed anyway.
The survivors are packed into the field in your order, byte by byte, and anything that doesn't fit is listed separately. Order matters: the tail is what gets cut, so put your best terms first.
The counter measures UTF-8 bytes. Accented characters take two, so an English list and a Turkish one of equal character length do not fit the same field.
What people most often forget
- Plurals are wasted bytes. Amazon handles singular and plural together.
- Competitor brand names are a policy violation and can get the listing removed. The field is hidden, not unexamined.
- Misspellings are no longer needed. Amazon matches common typos itself; spending bytes on them is an old habit.
- Write the buyer's words, not yours. If your catalogue says one thing and shoppers search another, the backend field exists precisely to bridge that.
- Changes aren't instant. Backend edits usually take days to index; don't judge them the next morning.
Scope, sources and freshness
The 250-byte limit applies per field on most Amazon marketplaces but can differ, so it is editable here. The stop-word list covers Turkish and English. The tool does not connect to Amazon and brings no volume or competition data — it cleans your list and fits it. Everything runs in your browser.

Frequently asked
What is the backend search terms limit?
250 bytes per field on most marketplaces. Bytes are not characters — accented letters cost two. Confirm your marketplace's limit and enter it.
Should I use commas?
No. Commas cost bytes and add nothing; spaces are enough.
Should I repeat words from the title?
No — title words are already indexed. The tool removes them so the bytes go to new terms.
Can I include competitor brands?
No. That's a policy violation and can lead to the listing being removed.
