Kumandan is a general-purpose media player. It is analogous to VLC, MPV, or a web
browser: it renders media from a source the user supplies.
Kumandan does not:
The application is distributed empty. All content addresses are entered by the end
user and stored only on that user's device. We have no ability to see, log, modify,
or disable any user's playlist, because that data never reaches us.
Because we host no content, a copyright complaint about material a user chose to play
cannot be remedied by removing this application. The correct target is:
Removing a neutral player does not remove any infringing material. This is the
*Sony v. Universal* "substantial non-infringing use" principle: the app has extensive
lawful uses — playing a user's own recordings, free-to-air public streams, licensed
provider subscriptions, personal media servers, and public-domain content.

A valid notice under 17 U.S.C. §512(c)(3) must include:
1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or authorised agent.

3. Identification of the material claimed to be infringing, with enough detail to locate
it — including the specific URL or screen within our materials.
4. Your contact information (address, telephone, email).
5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised.
6. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you
are authorised to act on the owner's behalf.
We respond to complete, good-faith notices within 5 business days.
Note: A notice that identifies only "the application" without pointing to specific
infringing material we control cannot be actioned, because we control no content.
We will respond explaining this and, where useful, direct you to the actual host.
If this application is removed from a store based on a notice we believe to be
mistaken or abusive, we will file a counter-notice under 17 U.S.C. §512(g)(3)
containing:
1. Our signature.
2. Identification of the removed material and its location prior to removal.
3. A statement under penalty of perjury that the removal resulted from mistake or
misidentification.
4. Our name, address, phone, and consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District
Court for our district.
Key argument to include: the application contains no content, ships empty, and
performs no function that reproduces, distributes, or publicly performs any work.
Under 17 U.S.C. §512(f), a party who knowingly materially misrepresents that
material is infringing is liable for damages, including costs and attorneys' fees.
We do not host user content and operate no user accounts, so there is no account to
terminate. However, if we become aware that a user is employing our software to
distribute infringing material, we will cooperate with valid legal process.
